Your Nurse For Today

About

Hello! I’m Jacqueline

RN, BSN, CFCS, GERO-BC

All those letters are milestones in my pursuit to improve the care for older adults and their caregivers. But what do they all mean? Here we go – Registered Nurse, Bachelors of Science in Nursing (in Public Health too!), Certified Foot Care Specialist and Gerontological Nursing Board Certified.

SO WHY OLDER ADULTS?

As a small child, I would tag along as my French-Basque grandmother brought holy communion to the home bound. She would often say the word “dementia” and I thought she was speaking French! Her reverence with frail older adults truly imprinted on me.

Through my education and various professional roles, I have seen the beautiful highs and severe lows older adults and their caregivers face. My mission is to close the gaps of knowledge between hospital care and home care. Your Nurse For Today is an accessible research-backed resource. Please use this site as a tool to feel informed and empowered to advocate for yourself or a loved one. Because healthy aging, takes a village.

In loving memory of my foot care client Delbert

THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS…

  1. Baseball games and beach days with my family of 5
  2. Having older adults share their backstories while I provide foot care
  3. Singing and dancing to cultural music (I am half-Basque and half Dominican!)
  4. Travel! I backpacked Europe for my 4-month honeymoon and have officially visited 20 countries!
  5. Scouring town for the best croissant!

Kind words from My patients

  • Jacqueline – a mobile foot care specialist – regularly visits our elderly friend who suffers from dementia to treat and soothe his troubled feet. She does this pro bono. She takes time to listen to her patients, learn their story and embrace the wisdom they share… and also embraces the caregiver, who are often in the shadows, looks out for their needs as well. Everyone that meets her quickly falls in love. Jacqueline an angel in disguise to so many.
Athletics Professional Baseball – Nurse Honoree 2024
    Community Nomination
  • My father was so pleased with the care Jacqueline provided to him (for his feet). He waltzed up to the front desk secretary of his nursing home singing her praises. Thank you for your service, especially because you gave it with such kindness.

Walking along my favorite beach today, soaking in all this beauty, even with my arm in a sling. Operation recovery is in full swing, and while I'm dreaming of the day I can jump into these waves, I'm not letting this previous hard year steal my joy. Every step is a reminder to appreciate the little things, let go of what I can't control and trust the healing process.
What is something that always brings you JOY, no matter what? Please share below ♡

For nearly a year, it has been difficult as a nurs For nearly a year, it has been difficult as a nurse and busy mom to wait for my shoulder injury to be determined as surgical or not. At a ripe age of 36, I got a whole lot of life ahead of me - so surgery is a GO to fix the labrum, rotator cuff and nerve pain down to my hands due to a returning cyst.

Keep me in your prayers as I am currently doing well to manage my anxiety and depression - but with post operative pain and 6+ months of rehab ahead of me, I am at risk of falling into the darkness again.

I am so grateful for my therapist, my family and my neighborhood rallying together to keep my home running smoothly as the first few days after sugery will be brutal. It takes a village!

HAPPY NURSES WEEK 2025! From day one to today, thi HAPPY NURSES WEEK 2025!
From day one to today, this nursing journey has shaped me in ways I never imagined. The pandemic, the patients and their families, the smiles between colleagues through the struggle—every second has been worth it. However, like any profession - nursing is continously evolving and this my reminder to evolve too!
